Introductory Information
Blaendyffryn Hall Nursing Home is owned by Mr Jim Richardson and the Matron is Mrs Philippa Pochin.
Individual care is provided for clients by professional, qualified nurses and our highly trained care team, all on hand 24 hours a day. Our aim is that this is carried out in a homely and cheerful atmosphere and clients are encouraged to lead a full and active life wherever possible.
Meals are prepared by our trained catering team - Head Cook is Shirley Richardson - in our well equipped kitchen. Our cooks cater for all special dietary needs and much care is taken to provide a varied and well-cooked menu. Requests for favourite dishes are always encouraged.
Laundry services are provided free of charge (except dry-cleaning) and the domestic staff are always on hand to deal with clients' needs in this area. The services of an aromatherapist and a hairdresser who call weekly, also chiropodist, dentist and optician can be booked.
The Activities Organiser will help entertain and stimulate by working in groups and with individuals on various projects.
A religious service is held monthly by our local minister.
Family and visitors are welcome at any time and are invited to be involved in all aspect of clients' needs and welfare. Social occasions and entertainment are often organised to which families and friends are especially welcome.
Medical and personal requirements
Prior to taking up residence, clients must provide complete and accurate information regarding their health, all treatment required and the name and address of their G.P.The home will order, take charge of and dispense all prescribed medication and the resident must undertake not to use any un-prescribed medication without informing and gaining the approval of the Matron.
All residents must provide, from their own resources or personal allowances, medical requisites (other than prescription medication), hairdressing, clothing, toiletries and all personal requirements such as cigarettes, newspapers and confectionery. Blaendyffryn Hall has in force a 'No Smoking Policy' throughout the building apart from the conservatory area off the lounge. Clients and visitors may only smoke in this area.
Personal effects and personal mobility
All electrical items brought into the home by residents for use within the home must be inspected and tested for safety before use.
At the discretion of the Proprietor, items of furniture may be brought into the home for use in the clients' own rooms. Transportation, insurance and removal of such items remain the responsibility of the client. Small, manageable pets may also accompany their owners during their stay.
Residents are not encouraged to keep personal valuables or money in their rooms as insurance for such items is limited.
Residents are free to journey out alone at the discretion of the Matron or with their relatives' approval.
